India
Where to eat in India. Since a
Filipino would be going to India on either a social,
business, or official visit, it would futile for us
to come out with a wide list of selected restaurants.
They would be well ttaken care of by the local host.
The tourist's meals would mostly be included in the
itinerary and would be taken care of by the travel agency.
It is important, though, for a first-time traveller
to avoid eating 100 percent Indian food for the first
three days. A little sample would be fine, since you
could get a lot of international variety in India. This
holds true for hotel outlets or specialty restaurants.
The best would be as follows:
- Fresh juices are plentiful in
Indian restaurants. try the coconut water of lime
soda. "Lassi" yoghurt is great for breakfast.
- For starters, go for some non-spicy
dry appetizers such as kebabs or samosas (which are
like empanadas)/
- main course colud include one
order of mutton (dry variety), seafood (excellent)
or a chicken dish.
- A variety of Indian vegetables
is recommended.
- Ask for Basmati rice; try the
"Naan" or "Roti".
- Desserts are a must, and many
milk-based. Seasonal or regional fruits must be tried,
especially the "Alphonso" varieties of mango.
- Cold coffee is a must in India.
So are he many varieties of Indian ice cream generally
known as "Kulfi".
- "Barista" cafes are
clones of Starbucks.
