INS RANA ARRIVES IN THE PHILIPPINES
INS Rana (D52) is the 2nd of the 5 Rajput class destroyer
built for the Indian Navy. INS Rana was commissioned on
June 28, 1982.
It is presently in the Philippines and is docked at Pier
13. Vice Admiral Raman Prem Suthan, Flag officer Commanding-in-chief,
Eastern Naval Command has organized a welcome party for
Members of the Indian community, Government officials
and VIP’s on April 17, Thursday at Pier 13, south
harbour, Manila.
INS Rana has a displacement of 5000 tons, is 147 meters
in length, has a beam of 15.8 meters. It wades at a speed
of 35 knots per hours, and has a range of 4000 miles.
35 officers and 285 other staff makeup the numbers of
personells who are on this ship. It has an arnaments of
4 ss-n-2 ashm and carries 1 Ka-28 helicopter.
Two Indian Naval Ships INS Rana and INS Kirpan visited
Bangkok from 7th April to 11th April, 2008. The fleet
was led by Rear Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Office Commanding
Eastern Fleet, Indian Navy. INS Rana had several visits
to the
Philippines in the last few years.
